Information Sheet - Rhododendron Walks
We will walk two amazing parks and gardens in the neighbourhoods of Port Credit and Mississauga.
We visit Hancock Park for an hour or so before returning by bus to Port Credit and changing to the Lakeshore bus to get to Brueckner Gardens. After our visit to Brueckner Park we will walk the Lakeshore trail to Port Credit about 4 km.
Hancock Woodlands, Mississauga. Beautiful wood, with maturing rhododendron, azalea and mountain laurel ecologically sharing space with native trillium, trout lily and mayapple, beneath a tall canopy of ancient white pine, oak, beech and hemlock.
Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens, Port Credit. One of Canada’s largest public rhododendron gardens. The rhododendrons were donated by the late Dr. Joseph Brueckner.
Bring a lunch, drinks and something to sit upon for a picnic among the rhododendrons and azaleas.
Optional pub stop in Port Credit.
Return from Port Credit by go train to your start point.
