Trip Safety Requirements PFDs must be worn at all times while in your kayak;
A sprayskirt is required unless otherwise specified as a rec boat paddle;
Transport Canada requirements for equipment is also a HOC trip requirement: 15m of buoyant heaving tow line, sound signal device, bailing device, watertight light for ½ hour before sunset or ½ hour after dawn;
Wet exit practice (formally called wet exit lesson) within the last 12 months in the current kayak that you are using for a trip;
Kayak with sealed fore and aft bulkhead compartments unless specified as a rec boat paddle;
A minimum of one spare paddle per 2 participants

Trip Details
Self Reliant Trip
Must bring own kayak, paddling gear, camping gear, hiking gear & food
Appropriate Hiking Shoes & Water Supply for Hike
Intermediate Hikes with steep grades and uneven footing & scrambling.
Pace 4+ km per hour.
Pre Trip Meeting - Hike
Day 1 - Arrive at site, set up camp
Day 2 - Paddle back to launch, Drive to The Crack to Hike
Day 3 - Paddle Bell Lake & Balsam Lake - 30m Portage to enter Balsam Lake

Day 4 - Paddle to end of Bell Lake - Hike Silver Creek - Note: boats will be left unattended for this hike

Day 5 - Paddle and home
Directions: The Bell Lake access point is located on Bell Lake Road.
Can be found 38km west from Hwy69 on Hwy 637
Turn off is located on a sharp bend: however it is signed well in advance
Follow Bell Lake Rd approx. 8km north to a "T" , take a left at the fork
Will lead into a parking lot permit site.
