MEETING PLACE OR PARKING LOCATION

Meet on Martin Rd after turning of Jerseyville Rd W, park in  the last lot in the Ancaster Little League Park. To have a general location enter  Morgan Firestone Arena, 385 Jerseyville Rd W in your GPS.

Generally moderate trails with some more challenging sections. 

TYPE OF HIKE: 

Loop, out and back, End to End

Section of Headwaters Trail and other back and side trails

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

Point of interests

Combination of wide and narrow trails. Some steep hills and poor footing, lovely scenery, forest and creeks. If lucky we can see some white-tailed deer. In winter icers and hiking poles are required for your safety. 

REGISTRATION

REQUIRED

Yes. A Must. At this time this hike is limited to 15 participants. 

Leaders appreciate early registration and at least 24 hrs before the event.

CANCELLATION

  • If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot. 
  • The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Hiking boots and hiking poles 
  • Carry : snack and plenty of water. First Aid and Tick Removal kits.
  • Check the weather to wear extra warm layers, wind and rain gear as necessary.  
  • NO WASHROOMS AVAILABLE. 

IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS

The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed. 


GUIDING NOTES: 

HIKE PACE -  Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain. 

TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
