MEETING PLACE OR PARKING LOCATION
Meeting place in the back parking lot of the Fleming Center Arena by the library. Washrooms available.

Approx 5 -6 km.
PACE:
Leisurely / Moderate / Fast
Moderate to fast walk: 3.5 - 4.5 km per hour

60 -90 minutes
TERRAIN:
Easy / Moderate / Challenging
Easy, sidewalks/asphalt trail
TYPE OF HIKE:
Varied from there and back, loops.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Point of interests
From the parking lot, we will head along the multi-purpose trails and city streets. Mostly paved surface. Regular frisky hike, nordic walkers are also very welcome. It is your hike!
REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Yes. A Must. Leaders appreciate early registration and at least 24 hours before the event.
CANCELLATION
• If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.
• The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.
REGISTRATION OPENS
2 weeks before the hike. Hikers and walkers are welcome
WHAT TO BRING
• Bring water and snacks
• Wear clothing according to the weather
• If you wish you may bring your telescoping hiking/walking poles with rubber booties for nordic walking.
• At the start, Bea will teach the Urban Poling technique for Nordic walking sharing her training. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-fuF1pUaws
• Washrooms available at the Beamsville Rec. Centre.
IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS
The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed.
GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisurely: 3 km/hr. or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr. or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e., rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
