MEETING PLACE OR PARKING LOCATION
The very end of Hidden Valley Road in Burlington. Access is through Hidden Valley Park in Aldershot. Once in the park, follow signs to Hidden Valley Road and park at the very end.
DISTANCE
10 kms +/-
PACE:
Leisurely / Moderate / Fast
Moderate to Fast: 4 – 5 kms per hour
DURATION APPROX
2.5 – 3.0 hours
TERRAIN:
Easy / Moderate / Challenging
Moderate to Challenging: There will be lots of hills and a few sections of tricky footing. Possible mud in certain conditions

Some out and back and some loops
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Point of interests
We will work our way up Grindstone Creek and then veer off towards Waterdown on a combination of escarpment trails, returning on different trails as much as possible. Some sections will be on the Bruce Trail
REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Yes. A Must. Leaders appreciate early registration and at least 24 hours before the event. Maximum of 15 hikers
CANCELLATION
• If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.
• The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.
REGISTRATION OPENS
Two weeks before the hike
WHAT TO BRING
• Wear supportive hiking boots with good tread. Hiking poles will be helpful.
• Dress in layers according to weather
• Carry waterproof rainwear, snacks and water
• Sun protection and bug repellent if necessary
IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS
The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed.
GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
