Park in the lot closest to the water. Meet at the stylized ship’s mast with “Waterfront Trail” written on the sail which is located in the corner of the parking lot, close to the water and the railway yard.

Point of interests
Along the waterfront of Hamilton Harbour, under bridge to Cootes Paradise and Bayfront Park. There may be some route variations.

CANCELLATION
• If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.
• The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.
REGISTRATION OPENS
Two weeks before the hike. Up to 20 hikers are welcome to participate in this event.
WHAT TO BRING
• Hiking boots or good walking shoes
• Carry: Snacks, water, extra layers, especially wind and rain protection.

A coffee stop at Williams Fresh Café, on the waterfront, is a regular option following the hike.
GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
Attention Non-Members: If you are thinking about becoming a member, The Halton Outdoor Club invites you to take part in up to two club activities as a Non-Member. After that, please join our club so we can welcome you as a member.

Enjoy three days of spring hiking on some of the escarpment’s prettiest trail systems. We will hike three different sections of the Bruce Trail, including: a section of the Dufferin Highlands at Boyne Valley Provincial Park; a section of the Blue Mountains at Pretty River Provincial Park; and a section of the Beaver Valley in the Kolapore Uplands.

Out and back
This hike is consistently hilly. The route passes through Clappison Woods and a former quarry. Turn back points are Hwy 6, with a small stone ruin nearby, and hike to Snake Road and back to parking lot.

Mud is possible if ground is not frozen and will add to the challenge.
Out and back hike that includes a ruin of a homestead fence at the top of escarpment. We will see a waterfall known as Borer’s Falls or Rock Chapel Falls and as we follow the escarpment trail we will come to an old Sugar Shack – which is also our turnaround point.
This hike climbs the escarpment using the Bruce Trail and side trails.

Here we go again! The Caledon section of the Bruce Trail offers spectacular views, rolling hills, farmland, mature woodlots and deep ravines. Eleven hikes will cover the “70 kms” and several of the side trails over three seasons this year.
Hike #3 will show how the provincial park got it’s name. Rushing water as well as Meadow Trail and the Dorthy Medhurst Side Trail.
Registration opens 2 weeks before the hike. Up to 25 Hikers are welcome to participate in this event.

This hike has two parts. The first part follows local trails and the Bruce Trail to the base of Smokey Hollow Falls, and it is the most rugged section. The second part crosses the creek and follows a loop up and down the ravine using the Bruce Trail and unmarked trails. Besides the waterfall and beautiful Grindstone Creek you may see a beaver dam. This is one of the longest and most challenging hikes in this series.

Explore Canada’s north and discover the beauty of Yukon on a 12-day hiking tour. During this time we will explore paths and trails near Whitehorse, head out to Dawson City and visit the nearby Tombstone Territorial Park, learn about the rich history of the Canadian Gold Rush, visit the magnificent Kluane National Park, and even cross the border into Skagway, Alaska on the famed White Pass and Yukon Route railway. With more moose than people, and with 80% of its land being wilderness, Yukon is a photographic paradise with plenty of opportunity for wildlife viewing.

Accommodation: 11 nights accommodations at 3-star hotels in Whitehorse (6), Dawson City (3), Haines Junction (2).

Day one of our tour will begin in Monkton on the Guelph to Goderich Rail (G2G) Trail. No ride on the G2G is complete without a stop at Anna Mae’s Restaurant and Bakery. In the evening, relax with prime seats for the musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at Stratford's historic Avon Theatre. On Day 2 we will cycle through the charming streets and paths of Stratford, then take peaceful country roads over to the picturesque village of St. Mary’s.

Ottawa is the most cycle friendly destination in Ontario! Join us as we explore pathways along the Ottawa River, Rideau Canal and beyond!
This cycling adventure includes 5 days of cycling with shorter rides on the day of arrival and departure! That’s five opportunities to ride! We will be exploring scenic pathways in both Ontario and Quebec. The trip includes a four night stay at the University of Ottawa Residences in suite style rooms sharing only a bathroom. The residence has easy access to Ottawa’s vast cycling path network and is within cycling/walking distance to the Byward Market restaurants (1 km), Museum of Nature (3.4 km), and Parliament Hill (1 km).

We will be pedalling along the Loire River in the “Garden of France”, a region of unparalleled beauty and cultural significance, covering a minimum of 210 KMs (up to 386 KMs) over 9 days on mostly flatter and paved terrain. The Loire Valley, dotted with magnificent châteaux, is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its historical importance and architectural prowess.
This is a guided tour with an English-speaking guide and a dedicated support vehicle to carry our luggage and provide assistance if needed.
This is a longer than usual cycle trip with 9 cycling days offered. However, there are 4 optional cycle days in which members can choose to remain in the local town for the day.
Accommodation: 10 nights in charming 3-star hotels; most meals included except for 4 dinners and 1 lunch
Number of participants: 20 total, including the leader. Six of these spots are available for single occupancy.

We are returning to Toblach, Italy and Seefeld, Austria to ski some of the finest cross-country trail networks in Europe. Other winter activity opportunities include extensive winter hiking trails, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, and sightseeing.
Accommodation: One week at the Hotel Villa Monica in Toblach, Italy with half board (all breakfasts and dinners). One week at Hotel Bergland in Seefeld, Austria with an all-inclusive package (see details on the Trip Information Sheet).
