SKI AND SNOWSHOE THE NEAR NORTH
FRIDAY-SUNDAY, MARCH 4 – 6, 2022

The Near North Ski & Snowshoe trip to Huntsville, North Bay and Parry Sound area is back by popular demand! We plan to ski/snowshoe at Arrowhead Provincial Park in Huntsville, North Bay Nordic in North Bay and Georgian Nordic in Parry Sound. We will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Huntsville.
The Near North trip will be subject to the HOC Covid Guidelines for skiing and snowshoeing as published on the Club website. Please read these guidelines prior to registering for this trip. The ski/snowshoe Covid Guidelines include but are not limited to:
In order to be sensitive to complications posed by the pandemic, the Club has negotiated cancellation policies that allow the Club to cancel the trip without penalty up to 30 days prior to the trip start date, allowing your payments to be fully refunded. Should the trip be cancelled, at any time, due to Government imposed travel restrictions, participants will receive a full refund.
Our Itinerary
Friday, Mar 4- We will depart Burlington at 8:00 a.m. and head to the Huntsville area where we will spend the afternoon at Arrowhead Provincial Park. Arrowhead has 28 kms of beautifully groomed ski trails and 8+ kms of snowshoeing trails, as well as a 1 km ice skating loop through the forest.
Saturday, Mar 5- We will head to the North Bay Nordic Ski Club for a full day of skiing and snowshoeing. They offer 50 km of groomed trails ranging from beginner to difficult, including some long downhill runs for the adventurous. The Club also offers a variety of snowshoe trails totalling almost 8 kms. Something for everyone!
Sunday, Mar 6– We will head to Georgian Nordic Ski Club in Parry Sound. This area is also part of the Canadian Shield and offers lovely scenic trails that roll through the northern landscape. Georgian Nordic offers over 30 kms of classic trails, 19 kms of skate trails, plus a snowshoe trail of 4.5 km. After our final day of skiing and snowshoeing, the bus will return to Burlington for an arrival time of approximately 6:00 pm
Cost: The price per person is $335.00 (double occupancy) or $490.00 (single occupancy).
Accommodation: We will stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Huntsville. The Holiday Inn offers a variety of amenities including mini-fridge, microwave and a Keurig machine in all rooms. A breakfast will be included each morning but may be modified to accommodate Covid Restrictions. There are restaurants (dine in or take-out) and grocery stores located close by.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your trip and expect a full refund, minus a $25.00 processing fee (per application), up until January 28, 2022. After that date, you will be responsible for any costs that the Club incurs on your behalf. This could include costs for transportation, accommodation, meal, leader subsidy, etc. If you cancel after the cancellation date, we will attempt to find a replacement from the wait list however, there are no guarantees.
In the event that the trip is cancelled by the club at any point, you will be given a full refund.
If the trip experiences inclement weather that interferes with our planned activities, we will NOT cancel the trip. Leaders will try to find suitable alternative activities.
While in progress, if the trip experiences unexpected circumstances that are beyond our control, that result in changes to the itinerary and unexpected expenses, members are responsible for any extra expenses that may be incurred.
