Hello Skiers and Snowshoers; As I’m sure you can imagine, in the face of the quickly changing situation around the spread of the Coronavirus, both locally and nationally, Bonnie and I have spent much of today wrestling with the decision as to whether we should go ahead with the last two Ski Day Trips or not. Our first priority is the safety and good health of our fellow HOC Club members. As a result, after much deliberation, we have decided to err on the side of caution and social responsibility. We regret to inform you that the Ski Day trip scheduled for Scenic Caves on Saturday, March 14 and the Ski Day trip scheduled for Highlands Nordic on Saturday, March 21, have both been cancelled so that we do not compromise the health of any of our Club members.
This has been a ski season with its share of challenges, but even so we have had many glorious days on the trails, both on our extended trips and on our day trips. As always, we have shared camaraderie and good times on the trails, in the chalet and on the bus. Although this ski season is not ending as we would have hoped, we are already in the process of putting the finishing touches on our Extended Ski Trip schedule for winter 2021. It is definitely our most ambitious slate of extended trips to date, so keep your eyes open, as we approach next Fall, for the trip announcements. We also plan another full slate of Lessons and Ski Day Trips for next winter. We will come back stronger than ever.
Thank you all for your enthusiastic participation in our ski programmes, your strong sense of fellowship and your ability to adapt to changing circumstances. You make our Club strong and without you, none of what we do is possible.
Bonnie and I thank you for your constant support and we look forward to seeing you on the trails this Summer, when this Coronavirus has, hopefully, run its course. We definitely look forward to seeing you on the ski bus next winter.
Happy trails to everyone.
