Hello Saturday, March 13, Dundas Valley Hikers:

The weather forecast for Saturday morning calls for cold and sunny conditions with little wind. The daytime high will eventually reach +5C as the day warms up. Perfect early spring hiking weather!

Jim hiked the trails on Thursday to check them out. He discovered that while most of the trails are clear of ice, there are some significant sections that are still ice covered. Mud should not be a significant factor on Saturday. Most of the trail drains very well and the cooler temperatures will help keep the footing firm. However, the same colder temperatures will make the icy sections a little more tricky.

As a result, traction devices are mandatory for this hike. If you do not have traction devices for your footwear, we will ask you not to hike with us on the Valley trails. It will not be safe.

Hiking poles are recommended, but not required.

The valley is beautiful, the streams are in full flow and the birds were quite active. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday morning.

    Patti and Jim Blair
