Easy, flat and pack gravel. For most part wide trail.

TYPE OF HIKE:

There and back hike, very similar to a rail trail.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Point of interests

Relax along the path. This is hike 2 of 3 to cover the total length of 11 km of the Dofasco 2000 trail twice; there and back. This Trail is part of the 140 km Hamilton Conservation Area’s trails. We continue here at the central of the trail before finishing at Devil's Punch Bowl Conservation. Features: the DPB Falls, amazing views of Hamilton and across the Lake, farm lands, old orchards, forest and birds.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Yes. A Must.  Leaders appreciate early registration and at least 24 hours before the event.

CANCELLATION

  If your plans change, please self-cancel as soon as possible so that other HOC members may take your spot.

  The club may cancel due to bad weather that may impact the safety of participants or due to low attendance.

REGISTRATION OPENS

2 weeks prior to the hike and 12 hikers are welcome to this event.

WHAT TO BRING

  Good runners or light hiking boots are good

  Dress in layers according to weather

  Bring snacks and lots of water

  Sun protection, sunhat and insect repellent are necessary. If you have a tick removal kit, bring it.

GUIDING NOTES:

HIKE PACE -  Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.

TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc.) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
