MEETING PLACE OR PARKING LOCATION

Kerncliff Park, parking area on Kerns Rd. below the escarpment. Approach from Brant St., turn west on N. Service Rd., turn north on Kerns Rd., and proceed to park. Do not approach from Dundas St. because you can’t drive down the escarpment. Look for me standing at the entrance to the parking lot.

Leisurely / Moderate / Fast

Moderate – 4 km per hour approximately

DURATION APPROX

About 2 - 2.5 hrs.

TERRAIN:

Easy / Moderate / Challenging

Moderate.  Both single and double width track. Mostly hard pack clay. Some moderate hills in the woods.

TYPE OF HIKE:

Loop trail.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Point of interests

This is the 11th hike in the 52-Variety Pak Hike series. We`ll be exploring the many paths that make up the maze in Burlington City View Park and Kerncliff Park. Most of the paths are in the woods.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Yes. A Must.  Up to 15 registrants are welcome.

CANCELLATION

  If your plans change, please self-cancel online as soon as possible so that another member can take your spot.

REGISTRATION OPENS

1-2 weeks prior to the hike

WHAT TO BRING

     Wear hiking boots or supportive walking shoes.

     Bring water and snack.

IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS

The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed. 


GUIDING NOTES: 

HIKE PACE -  Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain. 

TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
