MEETING PLACE OR PARKING LOCATION
The shoulder of Snake Rd. where the Bruce Trail crosses. The bottom end of Snake Rd is on Plains Rd West, the top end is on Dundas St. in Waterdown. You can access the Bruce Trail parking spot on Snake Rd. from either end.

PACE:
Leisurely / Moderate / Fast
Moderate – 4 km per hour approximately
DURATION APPROX
Approximately 2-2.5 hrs.
TERRAIN:
Easy / Moderate / Challenging
Challenging in parts. Mainly single width path, with some double width. Some areas of tricky footing on rocks and tree roots and other sections along the road. There are also some steep ascents and descents.
TYPE OF HIKE:
Loop trail.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Point of interests
This is the 8th hike of the 52-hike series. Today’s hike centers on Grindstone Creek with pauses at Waterdown’s Great Falls, Aldershot’s Hidden Valley Park, and Lemonville. There are several spots for escarpment views.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Yes. A Must. Up to 15 hikers may participate.
CANCELLATION
• If your plans change, please self-cancel online as soon as possible so that others may participate.
REGISTRATION OPENS
1-2 weeks prior to the hike
WHAT TO BRING
• Wear supportive hiking boots with good tread. Hiking poles will be helpful.
• Bring water and a snack.
IMPORTANT COVID REMINDERS
The club’s Covid-19 Safety Guidelines will be observed.
GUIDING NOTES:
HIKE PACE - Leisure: 3 km/hr or less. Moderate: 3-4 km/hr or Fast: 4-5km/hr. All paces are average and depending on the terrain.
TERRAIN - Easy: mostly flat and usually good footing (i.e. rail trails, Confederation Park, Bay Front Park), Moderate: some hills and/or poor footing (Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley, etc) and Challenging: steep hills and strenuous footing (Bruce Trail, some trails in Short Hills, Dundas Valley and Red Hill Valley). Please note variations can be expected with weather conditions.
