Saturday August 24. Bruce Trail End-to-End – El Camino Magnifico

Hike #2 – Niagara Section, from the Welland Canal to the boundary of Short Hills Provincial Park.

Start: 9:00 AM, arrive by 8:45 AM

Meeting Place: Parking lot at dead end of Wiley Rd. ( See Map 3, Km 35.2, of The Bruce Trail Guidebook, 29)

Type of Hike, Length, Pace, and Duration: A 4+ hr., 19.7 km linear hike at 3-4 km per hr. with occasional breaks for rest, refreshment, and relief.

Terrain: Some short sections with poor footing.

Overview: This hike takes us from the Welland Canal through a commercial/residential district of Thorold/St. Catharines to a wonderfully watery world of lakes, rivers, and streams. What a contrast!

Requirements: All hikers must be HOC members and pre-register on-line. Wear hiking boots and clothing suitable for the weather of the day. Bring snacks and lots of water.

Post-Hike Social: After the car shuttle, we'll retire to a nearby eatery to celebrate with drink, food, and fine conversation.
