Lessons & Fun at Guelph Lake

Beginner, refresher and advanced lessons offered on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  Make it a day trip or an overnight trip. Camping is available on site.

Check the 'Kayak Lessons Information Sheet' for detailed descriptions of the 6 Lesson Types. Some options are described below.

Beginners Full-Day Options

Register for Beginner Basic in the morning and Basic Safety/Rescue in the afternoon.  Option 1: Take both lessons on Saturday or both lessons on Sunday. Option 2: Take Beginner Basic on Saturday morning and Basic Safety/Rescue the next day on Sunday afternoon.  If you complete both sessions you can qualify for Paddle Canada Certification - Basic Kayak Skills Certificate.

Beginners Half-Day Option

Take Beginner Basic on either Saturday or Sunday morning. Beginner Basic alone is sufficient to be able to go on club trips, but we recommend doing both Beginner Basic and Basic Safety/Rescue Lessons.

Refresher Full- or Half-Day Option

Refresher classes take place only on Saturday. You can register for Refresher Basic in the morning and Refresher Basic Safety/Rescue in the afternoon on Saturday.  Or just take the Refresher Basic class in the morning.

Registration Opens Friday April 19, 2019

Advanced Paddlers:

Read the 'Kayak Lessons Information Sheet' and register for one, two or even three half-day lessons over the two days.

Advanced Skills: Sunday morning -- will cover improving the forward stroke, and some more advanced strokes, as well as braces, edging, blended strokes, and whatever other skills paddlers want to work on.

Advanced Rescues: Sunday afternoon -- will focus on different ways to get back into your boat - scrambles, re-enter & roll, an intro to rolling or just simply improving your rescues to make them faster and more efficient.

Paddle Canada Basic Certificate:  Register for both Basic Beginner Lesson and a Basic Safety/Rescue Lesson and indicate that you would like to earn the Certificate. No extra charge.

Trip Leader:   Dorothy Rideough       rideoughd@gmail.com
